SEA DOO HISTORY 1968 Production of the Terrain Master vehicles. 1991 The XPTM high-performance Sea-Doo watercraft is launched. 1993 On September 14, 1993, the 2,000,000th Ski-Doo snowmobile is manufactured in Valcourt. 1994 The FIRST Sea-Doo jet drive sport boat is launched: the twin-engine, 4.4 m, four-passenger SpeedsterTM model. 1995
Market entry of the first watercraft equipped with a high-performance suspension, the HXTM model, winner of the Innovation award in the boat category of the 1994 International Marine Trades Exhibit & Convention in Chicago. The Industrial Equipment Division's activities are consolidated in Granby. Acquisition and renovation of the plant. The Plus MPTM new-generation grooming vehicle is launched. This microprocessor-controlled vehicle uses innovative technology.
1996 In November 1996, Bombardier launches its electric neighborhood vehicle, the Bombardier NVTM, principally designed for transportation in residential areas of southern regions of the United States. Bombardier adds a fourth model to its Sea-Doo sport boat line, the ChallengerTM model. Bombardier introduces the brand new D.E.S.S.TM technology (Digital Encoded Security System) on some watercraft models.
1997 On February 28, a 1997 GTITM Sea-Doo watercraft makes history by becoming the 500,000th unit produced in Valcourt. Bombardier introduces the innovative D-Sea-BelTM technology, a sound reduction system which reduces the noise level by up to 50%.
1998
In March, Bombardier celebrates the 30th anniversary of Lynx snowmobile production. In May 1998, Bombardier Recreational Products wins two Industrial Design Excellence Awards (98 IDEA Awards) sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Business Week Magazine. The 1997 Sea-Doo Challenger 1800 sport boat wins the gold IDEA, and the 1997 Sea-Doo XP watercraft wins the silver IDEA.
2002 In November, Bombardier introduces four new ATV models : the OutlanderTM 330 H.O 4x4 and 2x4, the 2x4 OutlanderTM 400 H.O. and the OutlanderTM 400 H.O. XT. In November, Bombardier Recreational Products revolutionizes the snowmobile industry by introducing its Ski-Doo REV models, snowmobiling's most radical change in 40 years. The Bombardier Ski-Doo MX Z-REV snowmobile has tremendous screen presence in the new James Bond movie, Die Another Day. Also in November, the Bombardier Sea-Doo GTX+ 4-TECTM 2002 watercraft wins the prestigious "Watercraft of the Year" award from Watercraft World magazine. In July, Alvaro de Marichalar sets a world record by crossing the Atlantic ocean (a journey of more than 10,000 nautical miles) riding a Bombardier Sea-Doo XPTM watercraft. On June 6, Bombardier Recreational Products opens an untapped market segment by introducing its Traxter® MAX ATV, the first and only ATV that has the manufacturer's approval to accommodate two riders. On April 10, Bombardier wins the Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association for its four-stroke powered Sea-Doo GTX? 4-TECTM watercraft. In March, Bombardier innovates once more by introducing semi-direct injection two-stroke engine technology. The Rotax® 800 2-TEC® SDI engine for its Ski-Doo ,snowmobiles offers as much as a 50% reduction in hydrocarbon emissions and up to 25% better fuel economy. On February 15, Bombardier receives the prestigious 2002 Motor Boating Editor's Choice Award for the 2002 Sea-Doo GTX? 4-TECTM personal watercraft. In February, Bombardier is the official supplier of Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Bombardier snowgroomers and BombardierTM ATVs at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
